Chilli Con Carne

500g Minced meat

1 large onion

Garlic (as much as you like..)

Olive oil

1 tin of Red Kidney Beans

1 Red pepper

3 tomatoes

Tomato Puree

Chilli Powder


Black or white Pepper

Basil or Thyme

Chilli Peppers


Chop and fry onions in a little oil.

Add minced meat and fry until browned.

Chop onions and add to minced meat.

In a small bowl put a large spoon of tomato puree and add a little water and mix.

Add the puree mix to the minced meat.

Add chopped red peppers and basil and/or thyme.

Then add chilli powder and/or chilli peppers

Add kidney beans.

Add water as required ( if it looks thick add a little water, about ½ a glass… if it becomes too watery add more puree)

Cook for about 30 minutes on a low heat stirring occasionally.


Best served with plain white rice.

To cook white rice

In a frying pan put about 1 tablespoon of oil.

(for 2 people) add 1 water glass of rice.

Fry for a few minutes then add 2 water glasses of water.

Simmer (cook on a medium heat) until almost boiling

Then put on a very low heat for about 20 minutes or until all the water has been absorbed. (no water remains).

A nice appetizer is this:

On an oven-proof plate layout a layer of Doritos.

Then sprinkle a layer of grated cheese.

Then repeat… a layer of Doritos and a layer of cheese…. keep repeating until you form a pyramid.  Finally sprinkle cheese all over.

Put in the oven at 180c for 10 minutes before serving.
